Everything Homeowners Ask — Answered Straight
Is this program free of charge?
No — and anyone telling you "free" is hiding something. Qualified homeowners move forward without upfront costs using county-approved financing: $0 down, paid over time through your property tax bill. Exactly how it works →
Is this a government program?
No. The Impact Protection Program is privately administered. The financing program we use is authorized by Florida law and approved by the county, and our upgrades meet standards recognized by local jurisdictions and insurers — but we're a private licensed contractor, not a government agency.
Who pays for the upgrades?
For eligible homeowners, costs are covered through county-approved financing — no upfront payment, structured over time through an assessment on your property tax bill. Unsecured options are also available if the county-approved financing isn't the right fit.
What if I don't currently have home insurance?
You may still qualify. Eligibility is based on your property — not your insurance status. Many homeowners use these upgrades to become insurable again or qualify for better policies.
How much does a new roof or new windows cost?
We publish our ranges: whole-home impact windows typically run $12,000–$29,000, roof replacements start around $17,500. Your exact number comes from the free evaluation — before you commit to anything.
Do I qualify if I'm on a fixed income?
Yes. Qualification is not based on income or employment. Eligibility is determined by property criteria — home equity and property taxes current — which makes it accessible on fixed incomes.
I already have shutters. Can I still qualify for new windows?
Yes, in many cases. Shutters protect only when installed before a storm — and give you none of the insurance credits, energy savings, or everyday benefits of impact glass. Your evaluation reviews your current protection honestly. Windows vs. shutters →
What if my roof or windows are already new?
That's great — newer systems may already meet current standards. The evaluation confirms what qualifies and whether anything else would genuinely benefit you. If you're already covered, we'll tell you.
